Admission Requirements

Undergraduate (Bachelor’s), Graduate (Master’s)

You are considered an international student if any of the below apply:

You do not hold U.S. citizenship

You are not a permanent resident of the U.S.

You do not hold resident alien status in the U.S.

Application Deadlines

The application deadline for the August (Fall) intake is July 15th. The application deadline for the January (Spring) intake is November 15th.


Tiffin University Application Checklist

The following requirements must be completed by both undergraduate and graduate international applicants. 

Please complete the relevant application based on the program you are interested in.  

The application fee for undergraduate and graduate applicants is USD $75*. Payment may be made through the application portal/status page after submission.

High School Transcript

Original or certified true copy of your high school/secondary school record(s) in English.

The academic report should include a list of subjects studied, a qualitative rating on a course-by-course basis and an overall rating. Emailed copies are acceptable for the admissions process, however official transcripts are required to be submitted to Tiffin University by the first day of mandatory orientation.


College/University Transcript

Freshmen Students – Request that all secondary schools or examination boards send original or attested copies of all transcripts, diplomas, mark sheets, and certificates directly to Tiffin University in an official, sealed envelope. Tiffin University requires a cumulative 2.0 GPA for admission.  In addition, where the original documents are not issued in English, also provide an official English translation of each document. Tiffin University will not accept scanned or notarized copies.

Transfer Students – Request that all secondary schools, colleges, or universities attended, and examination boards send original or attested copies of all transcripts, diplomas, mark sheets, and certificates directly to Tiffin University in an official, sealed envelope. Tiffin University requires a cumulative college GPA of a 2.0 for admission.  In addition, where the original documents are not issued in English, also provide an official English translation of each document.  Tiffin University will not accept scanned or notarized copies.

Graduate StudentsRequest that all colleges or universities attended send original or attested copies of all transcripts, diplomas, mark sheets, and certificates directly to Tiffin University in an official, sealed envelope.  Tiffin University requires a cumulative undergraduate GPA of a 3.0 for admission. In addition, where the original documents are not issued in English, also provide an official English translation of each document. Tiffin University will not accept scanned or notarized copies.

If you attended a college/university in the U.S., you must submit an official transcript. Please contact the registrar’s office at your prior institution to submit a transcript request. Transcript(s) must be sent directly from the college/university to Tiffin University in order to be considered official.

International students must present a sufficient English language proficiency score to enroll as an undergraduate student.

If the medium of instruction in your secondary school, college or university was English, the English proficiency requirement may be waived. A student must provide a letter from the school’s principal or registrar stating the medium of instruction is English.

Tiffin University accepts Duolingo English test scores of 120 or higher, IELTS Indicator, and TOEFL Home as an alternative for other English language proficiency requirements. If you have graduated from a school in a country where English is the official language for higher education, you will not be required to demonstrate English proficiency.  Countries with English as an Official Language and the Language of Instruction in High School and/or Higher Education.

Exceptions

All international applicants whose education has been primarily outside the United States of America must provide objective evidence of proficiency in the English language. However, exceptions are made for applicants primarily educated in the following countries and territories:

Please note: Admissions reserves the right to request proof of English language proficiency of any student applying to the University.

You will need to submit a bank or government statement indicating that you or your sponsor have on account a sum of money sufficient to pay tuition, room, board and expenses for one academic year.

International Student Sponsorship Affidavit Form

You must submit a copy of the passport page containing your picture. If you have a visa, you may send a copy of that as well.

You can upload all documents to your admissions status page.  You will receive your login credentials for this page once you have applied to Tiffin University.

Tiffin University will not review applications for admission until we have received all required information. You will be notified of your admissions decision one to two weeks after your all information is received and your file is complete.

Once you are admitted, we will assist you in getting your Form I-20, inform you of our mandatory orientation program and introduce you to Tiffin University and American culture.

The following information applies to only international graduate student applicants. 

In-Person Program Requirements

Students applying to the graduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science in Justice Administration in Forensic Psychology (MSCJ/FP) are highly recommended to provide the following: 

  • Resume 
  • Statement of purpose
  • Undergraduate Degree Equivalency
    • In the U.S. educational system, bachelor’s degree recipients have 16 years of formal education — 12 years of elementary and secondary education plus 4 years of postsecondary study. A bachelor or equivalent degree, as determined by the U.S. Department of Education, normally requires at least 4 but not more than 5 years of full-time equivalent college-level work.
    • If you are from Bangladesh, Burma, India, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka and have a three-year bachelor’s degree in arts, commerce, or science, you are eligible for admission to an undergraduate program. A 3-year degree that is NAAC Grade A or higher will also be accepted.
    • If you are an international M.B.A. applicant with a three-year bachelor’s degrees and have earned your three-year bachelor’s degree from the European Higher Education Area (the Bologna Process), and Indian students with Division I from colleges accredited by NAAC with a grade of ‘A’ or better, your three-degree must be meet the standards of regionally accredited four-year degree programs in the U.S., as determined by Tiffin University.
    • If you have achieved a three-year bachelor’s degree from any other international institutions, you are eligible for admission to a graduate program as long as your three-year degree meets the standards of regionally accredited four-year degree programs in the U.S., as determined by Tiffin University. Once you have been admitted into the graduate program of your choice, you are required to transfer your SEVIS number from your current domestic college or university to Tiffin University.

In order to transfer your SEVIS record to Tiffin University, please submit a copy of your Tiffin University acceptance letter and the International Student Transfer Form to your Designated School Official (DSO) at your current institution and follow the procedures for international transfer students at your current school.

The DSO will complete the International Student Transfer Form and send it back to Tiffin University at ia@551827.com.


Your DSO will then transfer your SEVIS record to Tiffin University. 

Once you arrive on campus, we will issue you a new I-20 for your studies at Tiffin University.  If you have any questions about this process, please contact us at ia@551827.com.

When you come to pick-up your new I-20 form from Tiffin University, you should bring all relevant documents with you to the Internationals Affairs Office in the Welcome Center.

Relevant Documents: 

  • Your passport with visa and I-94
  • Your old I-20
  • Your Tiffin University acceptance letter
  • Your completed International Student Transfer Form (can be sent to ia@551827.com in advance)
  • Financial documents that show that you or your sponsors have sufficient funding for your education at Tiffin University

Please try to have your SEVIS record transferred to Tiffin University as soon as possible, once the current semester is over.

If you plan to travel outside of the country, it is recommended that you transfer your SEVIS record to Tiffin University first and then use your new I-20 from Tiffin University to re-enter the country.

DO NOT enter the U.S. on a visitor (tourist) visa (B-2), unless it is designated “Prospective Student” by the Consular Officer. The U.S. Immigration Service rarely authorizes a change in status from B-2 to F-1, and you will be required to return home to do so.
